The Authority In Craft
As a Professor of Creative Writing and recipient of six literary awards—including the Literary Titan Gold Medal—I bring the discipline of a multi-decade writing career to every writer I mentor.
Over the course of my career, I’ve written 24 novels, 40 short stories, 5 screenplays, 4 animated shorts, and a textbook on writing. Storytelling has been both my profession and my life’s work, and I guide writers with the same professional standards I apply to my own work.
Writing a novel is a profound journey — but it shouldn’t feel isolating. I offer a focused, thoughtful partnership for writers who are ready to move beyond the blank page and master the architecture of story.
Based on the Big Island of Hawaii, I provide a calm, structured environment where writers across the mainland can develop their craft with clarity and confidence. My “sane and sensible” approach to genre fiction balances creativity with discipline, ensuring each writer receives high-touch, individualized guidance toward professional-level work.

My Philosophy
I believe in coaching that is as loving and nurturing as it is rigorous. Whether we are refining narrative structure, sharpening voice, or navigating the complexities of the YA market, my goal is to help you type “The End” with absolute confidence.
